Day 2 of my spontaneous trip to Burlington, VT proved equally as fun as Day 1, and the sun continued to shine! My number one thing on the agenda was a stop at the Echo Lake Aquarium and Science Center on Lake Champlain. No doubt about it, hands on science is my favorite type of learning.
We learned about all sorts of things from meandering rivers ………………
( I am a pro on the topic after a 700 level Meandering Rivers course in grad school- I still can’t believe I sat through that course for an entire semester. Hey I got an A- though:).

Chase and Noah set up a river and learn how water meanders
We learned about watersheds………

Elizabeth explores watersheds and energy
We learned about the types of animals and fish that exist around and in the lake.

Noah freaked out when he watched this frog croak loudly face to face
We learned about pressure and weather, especially hurricanes as we stepped into one…….

This hurricane machine started to blow us away -Check Out Elizabeth's Hair

Winds whipped up to a moderate 80 miles an hour- Noah and Chase enjoy the ride
We discussed how airplanes and rockets fly………………….

Noah loads his paper airplane into a machine that shot it way high up
Chase pumps up the pressure for this totally loaded paper rocket……….

Chase and Noah load a Rocket Machine
We enjoyed the beauty of Lake Chaplain in the sunshine………….

Lake Champlain in mid-day
We had a picnic at this church on the lawn.

Now it is time to kick it and relax back home in our stormy weather conditions……oh how I will miss Burlington, Vermont!
